Kesari first look: Akshay Kumar Film (Saragarhi Battle): Akshay Kumar has shared the first look of his upcoming film on the Battle of Saragarhi, Kesari.
The first look of Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari, which is based on the Battle of Sargarhi, was unveiled Friday morning. Akshay aces the look of a Sikh warrior in the image. The battle took place in 1897 between British Indian Army and Afghan Orakzai tribesmen in North-West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan).
Sharing the first look, Akshay tweeted, “Feeling nothing but immense pride and gratitude while sharing this. Beginning my 2018 with #KESARI, my most ambitious film and a lot of passion.
Apart from Kesari, there are two other Hindi films in the pipeline.
Randeep Hooda is also working on a film on the same subject and it is called Battle of Saragarhi.Rajkumar Santoshi is directing the film and its first look was also unveiled last year. Talking about the film Hooda had said, “There have been lot of ups and downs. But that’s a part of filmmaking. The theme of the film is ‘Soora so pahchaniye, je lade deen ke het, Purja-purja kat mare, kabhu na chhade khet’ (Only he is brave who fights for the cause of the poor. He may be cut into pieces and may be killed, but he should not leave the field).” The 40-year-old actor will be seen essaying the role of Havildar Ishar Singh in the film.
What is Battle of Saragarhi?
In September 1897, over 10,000 Afghan tribesmen of the Orakzai and Afridi tribe attacked Saragarhi, North Western Frontier Province (NWFP) . The Sikh regiment, under the leadership of Havildar Ishar Singh, knew that they were outnumbered but they still held their ground and fought for several hours.
